How do we can register our server with the LAMS Community so we can import sequences directly into our LAMS server from the community?

Hi Spyros,

In order to register you server to the LAMS Community, login as sysadmin user, then go to the Sysadmin menu, then select the "Register server" option, then click on the "Enable lamscommunity.org integration" and click on Save at the end...

That should do. It might take a some few seconds for the first time though as it is encrypting all communication, so just be patient.

After that, your users should be able to login directly to the LAMS Community.

Thanks,

Ernie

Hi Murad,

it seems that your server is not capable to make http calls out on port 80. The HTTP 408 error is a timeout, which means that your server couldn't connect to the LAMS Community server in order to register it.

Can you try to see if there's any firewall restrictions that impede your server from making calls on port 80?

Thanks,

Ernie

Hi Murad,

Is your server being able to resolve (DNS) the lamscommunity.org domain?

Is this a Unix or Windows server?

Hi Ernie,
Im running Windows 7 Ultimate, and yes it can resolve your domain, this is the command shell output:

C:\Users\Administrator>nslookup
Default Server: suredc01.sure.com.sa
Address: 10.2.2.1

> lamscommunity.org
Server: suredc01.sure.com.sa
Address: 10.2.2.1

Non-authoritative answer:
Name: lamscommunity.org
Address: 74.52.89.35

i tried to register my server using my LAN network and my home WIFI network, both gave the same 408 error :(

Hi Murad,

Follow this instructions:

http://www.fmpwizard.com/help/telnet.php

(replace the website in the instructions for lamscommunity.org instead)

and tell me what you get.

Thanks,

Ernie

Hi Murad,

This is definitely something to do with your network setup rather than LAMS or the LAMS Community.

Today I even installed Win7 Ultimate to test and I was able to install LAMS and also register with the LAMS Community (see pictures).

I'm running out of ideas, but one thing to check is that you say yes when the question in Picture 1 shows up. Is that what you answered?

If you did click on Yes, then I don't know what else it can be. Sorry.

Ernie
