Outline of Activities: Introduction and welcome to the session. This outlines the aims and objective of the session.

Pupils are directed to the BBC website where they are instructed to research what areas of the brain control different emotions and behaviours. Students are also asked to make note of two things they find interesting about the brain.

Students are invited to enter a forum where they post the two things they found interesting about the brain and to comment on the things other facts about the brain other people have posted.

Students are directed to play a Flash based games with the intention of improving their concentration. The game is based on the traditional matching pairs cards game, when the student completed the game they receive feedback informing them how long they took and with how many turns of the cards.

Students are invited to enter a forum and compare the time and number of turns it took them to complete the game

Student are directed to play a Flash based game that is intended to improve their concentration. The game randomises a face that appears for six seconds. The students are then asked to re-create the face from memory; feedback is given as to how many elements they got right and how long they took.

The students are introduced to the next element called brain needs.
Tool: Notice Board
Each Student accesses a Scorm compliant learning object which looks how brain needs to functions and what you can do to make it function more effectively. This includes areas of the brain, diet and sleep. The learning object contains various interactive elements, however, no assessment section have been included within the learning object.

Students are invited to chat with their peers and discuss what they enjoyed about the session as well as what things they learnt.

Having had time to discuss their thoughts with their peers, students are asked to fill in a journal that records their thoughts and feeling. The students are prompted with the following questions: What have you learnt; how did you learn it, what did you do; how and where could you use this in the future.
