This is the first of two lesson-sequence parts of a German course for beginners. The sequence combines advanced flash-based Articulate Engage and Quizmaker fully recorded presentations with a wide range of collaborative tools. Many of the learner group activities try to get the student to become more appreciative of aspects of German culture; this is thought to be motivating for the student learning German.

The sequence automatically branches students into doing more work if they don't get at least 70% in the graded assessment tests. Many of the sequence activities try to get the student to reflect on aspects of learning.
