Is there a way to let folks self-register for a LAMS server, and then review the registrations and selectively grant access to LAMS?

Hello,

Yes, with the help of an add-on to LAMS.

It supports self registration, course passwords, and lesson joining, but not admin-based approval. Although this could be added with little difficulty. As a webapp that sits inside the lams.ear it has access to all LAMS core services and code.
