There's been some conversation, both in this community and elsewhere, about the viability of mapping LD to BPEL. I'm starting this thread to consolidate this conversation and see if we can't get some next steps outlined.

Specifically, I'd like to do the following:

  • Identify the delta between LD and BPEL
  • Identify other potentially related standards, such as BPMN.
  • Identify the benefits to both standards of a merger.
  • Identify the appropriate influencers of the respective standards that we can recruit to be involved
  • Start making contacts with those influencers.

Anybody want to lead off the conversation?

Thanks for leading the call - I think there is alot of interest in this general area now, and we'll see more yet.

On the practical side, I think this may have a slow start from our (MELCOE) end - we're all either flat out on V1.1, about to have summer holidays, or waiting to hear about funding in this area (which will still take several months). So if things don't get going now, it's not due to lack of interest, but local and timing factors.

I have no doubt we'll all be all be talking workflow during 2006.
