The norwegian language (but also Danish and Swedish languages) has 3 letters in additon to the english alphabet. These letters are listed below:

Æ: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C3%86
Ø: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C3%98
Å: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C3%85

In LAMS it is possible to use these characters without any problems or errors in SOME settings. For instance in Noticeboard it works fine (attachement: char_correct.jpg).

But using these letters in "Instructions" to a "Chat" some ASCII are shown (attachement: char_error.jpg).

(I have used the same sentence as example in both files.)

Any tips or tricks to make a quick fix? Or do we have to wait for 1.1

Hi Anders,

Yes and no.

Unfortunatelly, LAMS 1.0.x does not support other character sets in full. As you well point out, there are some tool like Noticeboard that support it, but most of the rest won't.

Now, LAMS 1.1 *does* come with full support for UTF-8 (Unicode), which will allow it to take/display all characters including double-byte characters like Japanese or Chinese.

So, yes, you'll have to wait for 1.1 for UTF-8 support.

Good news is: LAMS 1.1 is not so far from now. By June we shall have a beta version with most tools for testing. More on the next milestones shortly.

Thanks,

Ernie

Thank you Ernie.

A quick answer makes it more satisfying to wait for 1.1!!?
