What kind of platform is the Moodle/LAMS Integration
built on? Are there two different server-side
'engines' (PHP/MySQL and Java) that work in
conjunction on the same server or?

Anders,

You are right in your assumption that we have two different server side engines (PHP and Java) that work in conjunction with each other. We use standard integration technologies such as webservices combined with our own security checks. LAMS runs on MySQL so we run both Moodle and LAMS on MySQL.

The integration was designed to accomodate running on a single or multiple (physical) servers.

Fiona

Anders,

Just adding to Fiona's comment.

For our test, the Moodle server is running on a server and the LAMS server is running on another. However, both could be running in the same machine with no problems. Moreover, both could be running in the same server and on the same webserver.

It's just a matter of configuration and how you want it setup according to your needs.

Thanks,

Ernie
