Hi All,

I have decided to setup a Virtual Private Server as a testing ground for LAMS.

I am relatively new to this and was wondering if there are any guides out there.

My approach will be to set the server up with the basic install of:

Linux
Apache
MYSQL
JBOSS

Then install LAMS, is this the correct approach?

Once in production we will pribably move the site to LI but while in development we are hoping to keep costs to a minimum. This will also give me a good opportunity to understand more about LAMS.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hello Glyn,

You have the right basic setup there, however you do not need apache installed.

I dont believe we have any specific instructions for using a virtual private server, but it should be ok. There are general instructions for installing lams using the unix installer here: http://wiki.lamsfoundation.org/display/lamsdocs/Unix+Installer+Help

I would suggest waiting till friday the 22nd of May, as we are planning to release version 2.3 of LAMS.

Hope this helps.

Hi Glyn,

If you are running debian or ubuntu the installation is even easier. If that's what you are running, then installing LAMS is only one command line. Let us know if you need help

Thanks
