Hi Daniel,

Any idea how this bug was produced? Do you know what steps were taken?

Thanks,

Luke

Sure, it's the thing our friendly students LOVE to do, i.e. use Word :(
Happened three times with variations. Here is an account from one guy:

1. Create a wiki page with something inside
2. Write a text in Word with pictures,
3. copy/paste to this wiki page
4. Then they get an error message (they claim that it is JS followed by a JAVA dump) .... but I didn't try to test this
5. Then they go on with some extra action, like trying to kill the page....

I actually asked one of the guys to send me the word file so that I can try to reproduce. So far he didn't, will ask again.

Hi Daniel,

When pasting from word, there's a little icon there that filters all the Word weird characters and turn them into proper formatting. See attached picture.

Thanks,

Ernie

Actually, there is more than one version of this bug. It can get much worse, i.e. LAMS totally breaks down for all operations. I repaired this by restarting all MySQL and LAMS. (Was lucky I guess).

This one happened after our teaching assistant edited a wiki file made by a student. Clicked on Save. Though, of course, there may have been another intervention by an other actor. But is difficult to see for me.

Hi Daniel,

Thanks for the info, we should be able to find the root of the problem from this. It looks like it could be related to a failed save because of invalid data that hasnt been validated correctly, but it will need more inverstigation.

I have raised an issue for this bug. You can track the progress of it here:
http://bugs.lamsfoundation.org/browse/LDEV-2554

Again thanks for reporting the issue and for providing us with the information.

Luke
