Forum LAMS for Tech-Heads - General Forum: Big Blue Button integration

For the past two weeks I've been working on the BigBlueButton integration.

As you might know, BigBlueButton is an open source web conferencing system developed primarily for distance education.

BigBlueButton supports multiple audio and video sharing, presentations with extended whiteboard capabilities - such as a pointer, zooming and drawing - public and private chat, desktop sharing, integrated VoIP using Asterisk or FreeSWITCH, and support for Microsoft Office documents using OpenOffice. see more.

The features of BigBlueButton are far superior than Dimdim, which is now gone after being acquired by another company.

The integration is very straight forward. As a teacher you can use the Web Conferencing activity in the sequence whenever you like. When running with students, you are able to go into Monitor and start the conference either when your students reach the activity or before hand.

Once you started the conference from Monitor, the students are able to join the it.

As monitor, you can share your webcam, desktop, documents, etc, etc with them. And you can also allow them to become presenter (or moderators) too.

Very simple and quite powerful too.
