Hi there

Ernie, could you give us some news about the LAMS project status ? Is it still alive and kicking ?

Can you give us an ETA of the new HTML version 2.5 ? If I am right, the latest official release is still 2.4.02 and the last official patch was publishd as patch-2.4-005

In addition, I got 2 extra questions:

* Are there ways to patch current releases using the ubuntu upgrader ? The last distro was made in avril 2014 and you may have fixed many bugs in the meantime but I didn't see any official patches.

* (Already asked in a prior message). Could you please fix the translators interface ?

- cheers ! Daniel

Hi Daniel,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you.

There was a problem with the messages going thru my inbox so I wasn't seeing messages coming from this forum. My apologies.

The LAMS project is indeed moving ahead. These days is mainly moving by the support of LAMS International's customers which are mainly universities, other educational institutions and companies.

We haven't been able to ship a new release in the form of an installer as it takes us quite a lot of time to test this.

However, I can provide you with installation and upgrading instructions if you tell me what version you have running.

Are you using the ubuntu package? If so, I think we can focus on getting that one upgraded and you should be able to continue working on that one.

Let me know what works best for you.

Also, I'll be looking into the Google translations for the i18n site.

Thanks!

Ernie

Hi Ernie.

I got 2.4.0.201204131000 (according to the system admin page)

Yes I would be nice if at some point you could upgrade the Ubuntu distribution. I have 14.0LTS (and I think most people would have this version now)

I probably got it from here:
http://wiki.lamsfoundation.org/display/lams/Debian,+Ubuntu+Installers

And this is what the system says I have:
sudo apt-cache show lams2
Package: lams2
Status: install ok installed
Priority: extra
Section: contrib/web
Installed-Size: 89552
Maintainer: Ernie Ghiglione <@lamsfoundation.org>
Architecture: all
Version: 2.4.0-1
Replaces: lams-jboss4
Depends: openjdk-6-jdk | sun-java6-jdk, lams-jboss4 (>= 5.1), debconf (>= 0.5), mysql-server | mysql-server-5.1 | mysql-server-5.5, mysql-client, adduser
Conffiles:
/etc/init.d/lams2 6edcf8d5c09fb5a6071393d4fd0549e5
/etc/mysql/conf.d/lams2.cnf c489ee1009eb8474fa701666a3aa1202 obsolete
Description: Learning Activity Management System (LAMS) 2

and delivering online collaborative learning activities.
It provides teachers with a highly intuitive visual
authoring environment for creating sequences of learning
activities. These activities can include a range of
individual tasks, small group work and whole class
activities based on both content and collaboration.

In the meantime I can add manual patches if needed. Last time I did that it wasn't too hard if I remember right :)

- cheers ! - Daniel

PS: Fixing the translator's interface would be really nice. It was so much easier with this "little help".
