Hi Everyone,

We have just updated the language files and created the first Language Pack for Windows.

This language pack contains all the latest translation from the internationalization site as of Dec 22, 2006 1PM Sydney Time.

This little language pack (about 3MBs) works just like an installer. Just download it, double click on it, follow the instructions and voila!

After you completed applying the language pack, just re-start LAMS and all the new language updates will kick in.

Note that will keep releasing new language pack versions as we progress with our translations. The version, as you can tell is basically the date where we update the translations files. So expect more of these in the future.

Big kudos to Luke Foxton and Jun-Dir Liew for their work on putting this together.

If you have any questions or have any problems, just post them here.

Thank you,

Ernie

Hello again everyone,

We have created a manual version of the language pack, and it can be downloaded from our Downloads page. See the "Other" entry under the Language Packs heading - you want the file lams-unix-language_pack-2006-12-22.tar.gz.

Please read through the instructions before attempting the update - it is a bit confusing the first time that you do it. Once you understand the steps, it is a bit fiddly but not difficult.

It is the same language files as the Windows Language Pack that we released just before Christmas and is basically a set of instructions to do what the Windows Language Pack does for you. So lots of copying of files and running a few sql updates.

It is designed for Unix and Linux, but as it is a manual process you should be able to use it on a Macintosh or on a Windows version of LAMS that has been built from the source.

If you are running Windows and used the LAMS Installer then stick to the Windows Language Pack as that is much easier.

Once we have LAMS installers for non-Windows platforms, we will probably do an automated language pack for the other platforms, but in the meantime we want you to be able to get the new language files without having to rebuild LAMS!

Again - thank you to Luke and Jun-Dir for putting this together.

Any problems/questions post here and we'll attempt to answer them.

Regards,

Fiona
