Hi everyone,

Good news: instead of releasing LAMS v2.3 at the beginning of July, we'll be aiming to release it in May 2009!

LAMS v2.3 is a massive improvement for LAMS. Apart for a whole bunch of new features and fixes, LAMS v2.3 includes a improved architecture that makes it 3 times faster and it uses 1/4 of RAM memory!

So if you were using a LAMS server for 100 concurrent users, after this upgrade, with the same server and memory allocation you will be able to at least double that number.

Also, it makes it a lot easier to run a LAMS server in tiny computers with limited resources. So with LAMS v2.3 a teacher with a regular laptop can run a LAMS server for his whole class.

Some other new features:

* New simplified "Adding lesson wizard". Only two clicks to create a lesson.
* Integration with the LAMS Community
* Instant Messaging
* A very very cool Gradebook
* Support Activities
* Equation Editor based on LaTeX
* Upgrade to fastest HTML online editor
* Graphs and charts to monitor learner's time in activities
* Videos and Audio files now in *any* activity
* A a bunch of other stuff that I can't recall :-)

In terms of tool, 5 new tools:

* Video Audio Recording!
* Pixlr Tool
* Image gallery
* New Assessment tool with gradebook integration
* Mindmap tool!

So plenty of cool stuff!

But, we will need your help to test LAMS v2.3 before the release... As LAMS has now 2 million+ lines of code and there are so many features to test that we can't cover them all... with different browsers, operating systems, etc.

So expect an message asking for help to test LAMS v2.3 in the next week or so.

Thanks!

Ernie
