1 week to go to European LAMS Conference
One last reminder about the 2007 European LAMS Conference on July 5th at the University of Greenwich, UK - for details see http://lams2007.lamsfoundation.org/ New LAMS Release - 2.0.3/2.0.4 Early in June we released a new version of LAMS (2.0.3), including the exciting new feature "Live Edit", as well as many bug fixes. For details, see http://www.lamscommunity.org/dotlrn/clubs/technicalcommunity/forums/message-view?message%5fid=430537 How to use LAMS - Animations In the past we're created animated walkthroughs of how to use LAMS V1 (using the "Wink" software). After an enormous effort by Jeremy Page, we're pleased to announce a comprehensive set of animated walkthroughs for LAMS V2 - see LAMS Tools contract paper One of the core components of the LAMS V2 architecture is the "Tools Contract". While this has been described technically on the LAMS V2 Wiki, we've now written this up as a more formal paper which Ernie presented at the recent TENCompetence conference. For details of the paper and presentation, see LAMS/Microsoft Sharepoint Integration There are been quite a bit of interest in LAMS integration with Microsoft Sharepoint, especially for school users of LAMS. I recently met with people from Microsoft to discuss this, so if this would be of interest to your organisation, please post a note to this forum to help build some momentum for this work: LAMS and RAMS presentations - slides with audio Human Workflow Workshop - July 3rd, London For those interest in RAMS and human workflow, see below for details of a workshop in London on July 3rd - contact Stephanie for more details. Ernie and I will be at this meeting. From: "Stephanie Saunders" stephanie@caret.cam.ac.uk Human Workflow Meeting Tuesday 3rd July 2007 from 10:30am to 3.30pm JISC, 1st floor, Brettenham House (South Entrance) (nearest the bridge) Message from John Norman, Director, CARET: Dear Colleague Our apologies for the late notice of this meeting. We are organizing an informal workshop meeting to capitalize on the presence of James Dalziel from the LAMS Foundation in London in July. You have been contacted because you attended the last meeting on this subject in February. We hope that, inspite of the late notice you will be able to attend. If you wish to attend would you please let Stephanie Saunders know by responding to this email by 1 July. Outline for the Meeting Workflow has emerged as a point of focus for several areas of systems development within the Higher Education Community. It remains unclear, however, how much convergence, divergence, and duplication is embedded in current and emerging approaches. This one day meeting will bring together actors from distinct domains to explore differences and similarities in approaches to implementing and documenting workflow. The focus of the day will be on experts presenting an overview of work (both theoretical and practical, but with an emphasis on the latter) in their respective domains, followed by discussion to facilitate the exploration of commonalities and differences of approaches. After the Workflow meeting held in February at Aston Business School Conference Center there was an interest in Human or Activity based Workflows. This meeting is a follow on from that meeting to discuss this area. James Dalziel from the LAMS Foundation will be at the LAMS conference in July and will be able to update attendees on the details of the RAMS project, one year in. This will be followed by introducing discussion around domain space "big issues", approaches taken, preliminary results, but also drilling down to issues such as notation, requirements to interface with workflow based systems in other domains. In the afternoon we plan to consider how we generalise and differentiate approaches, and other issues pertinent to workflows; your contributions, in particular, to this part of the meeting are encouraged and welcomed. The meeting will start at 10:30am and finish at 3:30pm to allow those who need to travel long distances time to do so. Dietary and/or special requirements If you have any dietary and/or other requirements, please ensure you notify Stephanie Saunders by return of email. It will not be possible to provide facilities unless we have advance notification. Posted by James Dalziel |
