Hi Lorena,
You can upload mp3 files in the Share Resources tool, so your students can download them as soon as they get to this activity.
If you want to embed the audio (mp3 file) into the text for the instructions for instance, then your questions couldn't have come at a better timing . Fiona and I have been working on a new extension that will allow authors to add videos and mp3s to all tools in LAMS.
If we can manage to get thru a few hurdles, this will be added in the upcoming LAMS 2.1 version.
However, if you don't mind working a bit with HTML, have a look at this sequence as it shows how to embed video and audio into activities instructions.
With the addition of the new feature, you won't have to know how to deal with HTML at all.
Thanks,
Ernie

Hi Lorena,
If what you are looking for is the option to embed the audio in the introduction of tools, we might have a solution for this now.
After looking at this today, we realized that the video/audio embedding "plug-in" can also be use in the current version of LAMS (2.0.4 as of today) not just in 2.1.
So in the next couple of days we'll have download that you could add to your current LAMS to get embedded video and audio.
Stay tuned!
Ernie

Hi Lorena,
OK, here's the page on how to use and install this new plug-in to embed audio and video into any LAMS activity.
The animation explains how to embed the video and audio files.
We'll add this to demo shortly so everyone can play with this as well.
Thanks,
Ernie

Hi Ernie,
Many thanks. Problem is, I struggled with the download instructions and then gave up in despair. I've only just returned with my tail between my legs to admit I have no idea where to find the LAMS JBoss directory (C:\lams2\jboss-4.0.2), even though I looked on my C drive which seems to be the obvious place; nor can I find any of the files specified in steps 3 & 4.
Please can you help me?
Thank you,
Lorena

Hi Lorena,
No problems! We are here to help
Let me ask you a few questions first:
Did you install LAMS using the Windows installer?
Would you remember the directory you choose to install LAMS? (if not, no worries, we can figure it out)
Thanks,
Ernie

Aha. That explains it I think. I didn't 'install' LAMS as such. We're operating on a demo site at the moment, waiting until the unversity purchases the real thing, hopefully soonish.
So will I have to wait until that happens?
Thanks again,
Lorena

Hi Lorena,
Yes, you will need access to the server in where LAMS is installed.
> So will I have to wait until that happens?
If you can email the person who has installed LAMS there the instructions, that should be enough. Or get him/her to contact me directly as well.
Thanks,
Ernie

Hi Ernie,
Okay. That person is on maternity leave, and I don't think I have the contact details of the server's owner. Thankfully this is not urgent just yet and I can afford to wait till the university gets our own LAMS server. So I'll put this conversation on hold till then.
Thanks so much for all your prompt helpfulness. You've been great. :)
