Dear LAMS users,

We are currently finalising a technical integration of LAMS and WebCT at Macquarie University. It includes enhanced grouping functions that allow the course coordinator to place students into groups before they go into LAMS. This grouping includes grouping imported from the student information system such as internal and external enrolment and enrolment by campus, and other manually assigned groupings such as tutorial or project based criteria. Students will be able to sign on to LAMS from within WebCT without having to submit another password as they move between systems (single sign on).

I am interested in hearing how other educators have found LAMS integrations elsewhere. Any feedback available yet?

I think once the integration is in place it will make usage of LAMS more 'mundane' - ie students will just do a LAMS activity as just one of the things they do when they go to their online unit of study. This is positive (!)....in that it means that the technology is more in the background and the activities, the critical thinking, the reflection, the group work etc are in the foreground.
