Hi,
we want the students to watch a video and at the same time write their reflections. We want all this to happen primarily in the same window. We also want them to be able to submit the text straight after they have written it. Is this possible?

I was hoping for something like html-noticeboard + journal..

Best Regards,

Dear Jan,

You are in luck. The LAMS version 2, which is currently released as LAMS 2.0 RC1 (with the final version due soon) will be able to do what you have just asked.

Every tool now has an HTML noticeboard embedded into it. I have attached a picture of how it might look to students if they were watching a video and writing their reflections at the same time (using the Notebook tool).

If you are using LAMS v1.02, then students can watch the video through html-noticeboard, and write their reflections into the notebook which is always in the left hand corner of their screen. There is an option to save the notebook text as a journal entry (see Teacher's guide). The disadvantage with this, is that the space is quite small.

Hope this helps,
Bronwen

You can give it a go by using the demo site: http://demo.lamscommunity.org.

Thank you Bronwen,

we are currently using v1.02 so we have to use the notebook. One problem is that its small and another one is that in a long sequence of actions it will not be easy for a teacher (through monitor interface) to know that text in notebook is connected to the video.

However, after christmas we will implement v2.0.

Best Regards,
Jan
