Hi Jong-Dae,
LAMS 1.1 will be coming out during 2006 as we are progressing thru its development. As you might have seen, we have started openning the documentation and the development wiki in the past weeks. In this first half of 2006, we aim to have several beta versions of LAMS 1.1, hoping that feedback and bug fixing will lead to a production-like version by the second half of this year. In the LAMS 1.1 Feature List, you can see the current status of its development. At the moment, LAMS Core (as explained in the new architecture) is still in an alpha stage as some key parts of Authoring and Monitor are not completed (Monitor Flash front end, create folders in workspaces, transitions, gates, etc). Once most of the features of LAMS Core are completed (or close to be -our Beta stage) we'll make our development CVS publicly available so developers who want to start building LAMS tools or using their existing external tools within LAMS can do so. In addition, there are already five LAMS 1.1 tools we have re-written -following the new tools contract- that hopefully can work as templates for other developers to create their own. At this stage, tech volunteers to help creating installers and/or bug fixing will be very welcome Also we will provide a demo site (similar to the LAMS 1.0.x demo server) so teachers can start playing with LAMS and getting acquaited with it as well. We'll keep updating the LAMS 1.1 Feature List as we progress with the development. Thanks, Ernie Posted by Ernie Ghiglione |
