You can get that error if your Java is the wrong version, or if you haven't started MySQL before starting LAMS. Since your LAMS worked beforehand, is it possible that you forgot to start MySQL first?
If the remote admin program only listens on port 2000, it shouldn't conflict with LAMS - JBoss doesn't use that port. I just tested LAMS with a demo version of Remotely Anywhere (I assume this is the program you were using), and didn't have any problem.
