LAMS 2.0 Flash Problems

Folks,
We've encountered a few problems with the various versions of the Flash player. We knew about some of them last week, but we've found a really bad one this week so I wanted to warn you all. Generally you can use Flash Player 7 or above and it should work. Except for: * Flash Player 9,0,16,0. Don't use this one full stop. It has given us odd errors in both authoring and learning. If you want Flash Player 9, then use 9,0,28,0. * Macintosh + Firefox + Flash Players 8,0,22,0 or Macintosh + Firefox + 8,0,34,0 causes problems in authoring. The preview button won't work and the tool authoring windows won't open. Upgrade to 9,0,28,0. It seems to be just this combination of Mac, Firefox and Flash 8 that is the problem. The same version of Flash on Windows doesn't have any problems. We will try to get it working in Flash 8 for LAMS 2.0.1, but for now upgrade your Flash 8 players if you are on a Macintosh. * Flash Player 7,0,69,0 on Linux doesn't support Arabic properly. The fonts don't come out right. You may have more luck with Flash Player 9 on Linux or you might just have to resort to Windows or a Macintosh for Arabic temporarily. If you aren't sure which version of the Flash player you are using, go into authoring and right mouse click on the canvas. Select "About Macromedia Flash Player (number)". This will open a page on the Flash website and tell you which version you are using. If you are running both Internet Explorer and Firefox then you need to check in both browsers - updating the version in Firefox does not change Internet Explorer and vice versa.
