One of our team has tried this a few times and he didn't encounter any problems. He wasn't running both systems heavily, so I can't promise that there aren't any "lurking" problems that we don't know about.
It won't work "out of the box" ie just using the Windows installer. You will have to customise paths, ports etc. You could probably use the Windows installer initially to get LAMS 2.0 on the computer (if it is a Windows PC) but then you will need to do some reconfiguration. * The default install directory in the Windows installer is C:\lams so if you use the installer you should give it a different path to not conflict with LAMS 1.x. * You will need two different copies of JBoss, as LAMS 1.x and 2.0 run on different versions of JBoss. The wiki has a starter page on configuring the ports for JBoss 4.0.2 (for LAMS 2) so that the two versions can co-exist. http://wiki.lamsfoundation.org/display/lams/Configuring+Multiple+LAMS+Instances+on+One+Machine * You will need to give it a new MySQL database. The installer defaults to creating the database as "lams2", which should not conflict with LAMS 1.x installations. LAMS 2.0 requires MySQL 5, so if you are going to run them both using the same database software then LAMS 1.x will have to be run with MySQL 5. We have run LAMS 1.x with MySQL 5 but again, not tested exhaustively so no promises! Fiona Posted by Fiona Malikoff |
