The Linux/Unix release for LAMS 2.0.3 is finally out. Only now its called LAMS 2.0.4!
We found a small bug in the Windows installer and to fix it, we've upgraded the Windows version to LAMS 2.0.4. Rather than have Linux and Unix users look like they are behind, we've gone straight to 2.0.4 for the Linux/Unix release. So Linux/Unix users will go from LAMS 2.0.2 to LAMS 2.0.3. The list of fixes and improvements for 2.0.4 is the same as the list for 2.0.3 - there isn't any new functionality in LAMS 2.0.4. On the downloads page is two files:
We did briefly put a 2.0.3 installer up on the downloads page. If you did happen to download and install it, please email me at fmalikoff@melcoe.mq.edu.au. Your 2.0.3 installation will work fine - the 2.0.4 installer is little more than a repackaging of the 2.0.3 install. But there is a couple of small changes you can make so that your users don't feel like they are using an older release than everyone else. A new feature we have added to the installers is the support for MySQL to be running on a separate server. If you are running MySQL on the same server as LAMS, then when it asks you for the location of the database, leave it as the default "localhost". If you want to run MySQL on another server then read the instructions under "Setting up MySql on a Different Server" in the readme file first! The upgrader won't MOVE MySQL for you. If you want to move an existing MySQL database, then see the Moving MySQL to another Server page. A special thanks to Luke. Luke (along with our new staff member Daniel) was working very hard last week to get this release out. On the weekend Luke injured himself playing sport (badly enough that will require surgery) and has worked from home today to get this release out. Fiona Malikoff Posted by Fiona Malikoff |
