Yep, in Windows just set the service to start Automatically (Control Panel->Administrative Tools->Services, then right click LAMS->Properties, and change the startup type to Automatic). In Unix you can use the lams script located in lams-server1.0.1/conf/, and put that in your /etc/init.d directory, and setup the relevant rc.d links - it also supports chkconfig (do 'chkconfig --add lams').
