I have two schools installing LAMS following some PD sessions I ran this year. I have one school struggling to integrate AD despite following the config table on the AD wiki page. I had assumed that this was a relatively simple process, but I'm getting some frustrated techs emailing me.

Has anyone else had an issue with AD integration ....any tips/tricks anyone can pass on?

Hopefully if someone has used LAMS with AD they will post here - but when the ldap authentication code was developed it was with OpenLDAP in mind, and we didn't get to test with AD. Since LDAP is an open standard it should work, but knowing Microsoft there may be some 'trick' to it. If your tech has any specific or even general questions about lams' ldap integration, you can give them my email (it's in my profile, just click my name below).

I managed to get an AD server to work with LAMS 2.1, but only with the full name (i.e. John Smith) as the login. There's some improvements to the ldap configuration in 2.2 (see http://bugs.lamsfoundation.org/browse/LDEV-2028 and http://bugs.lamsfoundation.org/browse/LDEV-2029), and I've tested these with AD OK. The changes are essentially to add an initial bind user (if your ldap server doesn't allow anonymous reads), and to make use of an ldap search filter to retrieve the user's DN rather than specifying several possible base DNs as was done in 2.1.
