Hi Glyn,

If you are running linux you can indeed use the linux installers.

If you are running ubuntu or debian, it actually is even easier.

Do you have access as root to the linux box?

If so, have a look at the instructions in the Unix Installer Help page.

In addition, we are about to roll out LAMS 2.3 (May 22nd if everything goes alright), so as part of that we've been testing lots and lots of installers in linux/unix flavors. Each installer has *all* step by step instructions. So that might help.

Thanks,

Ernie

Thanks Ernie for the prompt reply!

Not sure if I have root level access to the server. It is a shared hosting service so probably not ....

It is provided by Jumba.com.au

Perhaps this is something they need to install for me?

Cheers

Glyn

Hey Glyn,

I'm not sure if you can get access to the linux console if you are on a hosted service. But if you don't talk to the LI guys and they might be able to help.

Good news is that you don't necessarily have to have both LAMS and Moodle in the same server, so effectively they can be anywhere on the internet.

Thanks,

Ernie

Thanks Ernie, I will talk to the current hosting provider and see what they say.

Otherwise I will talk to LI!

Thanks again

Glyn
