Sequence Information Sequence: Web Opac Advanced Description: Basic Description
The purpose of this LAMS session is to introduce students to some of the advanced features of the college's web OPAC and how these features can help with research techniques including bibliography writing. Students achieve this through live interaction with the web OPAC that is paced and directed through LAMS. Students are also given the opportunity to collaborate through surveys and voting.

Students are introduced to the session and the aims of the session are explained.
Tool: Notice boardStudents access the live OPAC and are introduced to various icons within the OPAC. They are asked to search on a subject of their choice and take note that a new icon has appeared, the basket facility.

Students access the web OPAC and carry out a search as before. Students are then instructed how to use to basket facility and shown what it does.

Students check to see if their results have arrives by accessing their email direct from the LAMS sequence.

Students are asked to complete a short questionnaire about the web OPAC, how much they knew before and how much they know after the session.
