Given the time of year, I'm tempted to suggest that there should be a LAMS Sequence of the Year Award but maybe it's a little premature? What would the (virtual) prize(z) be called? A Golden LAM (instead of Globe)? A James (instead of an Oscar)?

Whatever your thoughts, have a good Christmas.

I vote for calling it: the Dolly Award

As Dolly was -by far- the most famous sheep ever :-)

If you google "most famous sheep" you do indeed get Dolly though Shrek beats her if you just use "famous sheep". See http://www.sheep101.info/famoussheep.html for background :-)

:-)

I like that picture of Shrek. I'm surprised he was still standing. How about a 'Golden Fleece' award?

Merry christmas from me too.

Maybe 'Dolly' wouldn't be such a good name for the sequence of the year - Dolly suffered a premature death - lasted only 6 years (breathing and arthritis problems). She did give birth to 6 other lambs though. She was also stuffed ('taxodermically') after her death.

Bronwen's suggestion of the 'Golden Fleece' - linked to perilous journeys and sacrifice - might be appropriate!??!

Best wishes for the silly season,

Robyn

My kids reckon the most famous sheep is Shaun who is, indeed, getting his own BBC series ( http://www.bbc.co.uk/pressoffice/pressreleases/stories/2004/09_september/23/shaun.shtml). Anyway, I also like Bronwen's suggestion. I guess the good thing is there is still 12 months to decide on a name....

I do a have a soft spot for Shaun as well, especially when he's wearing his woolly jumper (jersey or pullover for international visitors).

But somehow a 'Shaun Award' does not sound very flattering... no offense to any Seans or Shauns out there.

The hardest part will be choosing someone to give a LAMS Sequence of the Year Award too. There are heaps of great ideas out there, and not all of them have made it onto the community yet.

I guess the other point to make is that a virtual prize can be cloned (like Dolly) so there is no limit to the number of people that could get awards -- indeed, they could even award themselves a prize if they thought they deserved it. ;-)
