I'm running LAMS 2.3 on my laptop and moodle 1.9.9 with a web hosting company (Bluehost) and get the following error when I try opening either the Open LAMS Author or Open LAMS Monitor links from the course environment:

type Status report

message Login Failed - login parameters missing

description The request sent by the client was syntactically incorrect (Login Failed - login parameters missing).

Hope you can help. Thank you.

Hi Nava,

I'm glad to see you using LAMS. I figure you are still at Jordan HS. Please e-mail me: kmw@caltek.net and I'd love to work with you on this and other things...like old times.

David G. Brown says he knows you.

fyi...
I have been playing using Moodle and dotLRN for a while now. the only real experience I've had with LAMS is as a MEL instance Moodle Elgg and LAMS.

I'm interested in http://edusim3d.com/ and http://opencobalt.org with whiteboards. I figure you have at least one of them, by now.

Hi Aureliano,

Just double check the User Information URL in the LAMS side (see http://is.gd/fn1VA). Make sure that it is correct according to your Moodle server URL/domain.

Thanks,

Ernie

Ok, going a bit nuts here. :)

I get the following message when I do the validation from moodle's LAMS v2:

HTTP Error: Couldn't open socket connection to server http://localhost:8080/lams/services/VerificationService?wsdl, Error (111): Connection refused

And this when I try to add a new lesson from within the course:

Call to LAMS failed: received no response or connection was refused. Please check that you have the correct LAMS server URL and that it is online.

When I select the Open Authoring from moodle, it works.

Thank you for your help,

Aureliano Nava

I'm running the LAMS server on my laptop using WAMP and I do the connecting mostly form within my home network. I access the LAMS server as http://localhost:8080/lams. As mentioned earlier, my moodle service is being hosted with Bluehost.

LAMS setup is:

id: mylausd
key: mylausd
name: mylausd
description: mylausd
prefix: mylausd

user info url: http://mylausd.com/mylausd/mod/lamstwo/userinfo.php?ts=%timestamp%&un=%username%&hs=%hash%

external server url: http://mylausd.com/mylausd

and from moodle's LAMS v2:

server url: http://localhost:8080/lams
server id: mylausd
server key: mylausd
server source: mylausd

Thank you,

A. Nava

Hi Aureliano,

Unfortunately, this is not going to work if you must refer your laptop as localhost.

The Moodle LAMS module (in Moodle) needs to contact LAMS to get the list of available sequences you have to create lessons. Since you have configure in Moodle that the LAMS URL is http://localhost:8080/lams when Moodle tries to contact localhost, it won't reach your laptop. (As localhost means 'this computer').

Can you refer to your laptop with a static internet public IP?

Thanks,

Ernie
