If you haven't installed on your ibook yet, the following guide may be helpful:
http://www.lamsfoundation.org/downloads/macosx/index.html Generally, when you have LAMS installed on your own machine, you do not need to be connected to the internet to be able to use it. This includes all functionality such as authoring, previewing, etc, except for Share Resource links that are online of course. Keep in mind that if you have been using a LAMS server on the internet, this is separate to the LAMS server you have on your own machine (e.g. accessed by http://some.online.server.com/lams versus http://localhost/lams). To work between them you'll need to export your sequence as a file to your hard disk, then, in the other LAMS server, import the file again. When you want to use files (such as word docs) with LAMS, you can upload them to LAMS using the Share Resources tool. The file is then stored on the LAMS server, and learners can download it when they reach that particular Share Resources tool during a sequence. This works the same for an online LAMS on the internet, and for the offline LAMS server that you may have installed on your machine. Hope some of this helps. Posted by Jun-Dir Liew |
