Forum Problems Installing LAMS: error can't read mysql-ds.xml when installing in ubuntu server

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you.

We've been having the 2013 LAMS Conference in Singapore this week and things have been rather busy.

"sed: can't read mysql-ds.xml: No such file or directory"

It seems that the LAMS installer is trying to find a file mysql-ds.xml to configure the database settings but it's not where it suppose to be.

However, I'm trying to replicate this issue without success.

For the text you posted, I can assume that you tried to installed LAMS before and then you manually might have manipulated/deleted files on the /usr/share/jboss-5.1/ folder?

What you can try is to remove the lams-jboss4 first:

# apt-get remove lams-jboss4


and then install lams again:

# apt-get install lams2

Hi Ernie,
I finally managed to make it up and running.
I found that the problem was that user root didnt exist in mysql (?) so i had to create it, and installation comleted succesfully(!)
Also the integration with my moodle seems fine !

Also i had to change the default port from 8080 to 8090. No problem so far...

Glad you can help me this situation.
I followed your guidelines and finally i can see some progress ...
You were right about previous installations of jboss, so used " sudo apt-get autoremove" command and as i can understand all previous installations and packages removed without any problem so far.
I think that jboss is ok but lams as i can see is not totally setup. During the installation i got the following messages:

May be the user is not "root@localhost" as the installation is claiming but "root@b-epipedo" ?

and in my address http://b-epipedo.mylesson.info:8080/lams  i get the error :

Because lams folder is not created ..
