Are you using Moodle 1.6? There is a line that seems to be missing in mod/lams/lib.php, where there should be a line like 'require_once('/path/to/config.php');' where config.php is the file in your moodle home directory. Without this line, there is no soap communication (used to retrieve sequence and workspace list).
