I just installed LAMS v 2.1 on Opensuse 11.0 sucessfully via the lams-unix-installer. I'm running it to test authoring sequences and to integrate it with Moodle 1.9.

I have changed the server port on localhost to 8180 as tcp was using 8080.

I can log-on just fine and get to most parts of the system.

I have however the same problem that when clicking on the authoring page I just get a blank screen while it says: "Waiting for localhost..." in the left hand bottom corner.

Having installed Flash player version 9 via YAST (OpenSuse's GUI for installing software) I have disabled the pop-up blocker. This doesn't fix the problem though. A right-hand click with the mouse into the active authoring window will show me the Adobe Flash player options.

I have had a look at Fiona's post about deleting cache files and have done that but to no avail.

Any idea what I'm doing wrong??

Yo Ulf,

How are you doing? Good to hear from you again and wonderful to hear that you are using LAMS!

I believe the issue you might be having is that you have set the system URL to be different than the URL you are using to access the LAMS application.

If you installed LAMS using http://localhost:8080/lams and then you changed the port, you will need to login into LAMS as sysadmin and go to the sysadmin menu, Edit the configuration settings, look for the System URL and make sure that it is the same as the one you are using with your browser. For instance, if you have changed the port, make sure that the system URL value reflects the new port. Or if you are accessing the server thru say http://127.0.0.1:8180/lams then, make sure that you use this URL as system url.

Also, since you are interested in using LAMS and Moodle, perhaps you might want to see this new work we've done to add Moodle activities within LAMS. We will be releasing this in LAMS 2.2 for the LAMS Conference in Sydney in December 2008.

Let me know how the change of system URL goes.
