1: Installed 2.1, 2.1.1 and 2.2
2: 2.2 Didnt work on win2k3, so I rolled back to 2.1.1
3: LAMS started to act funny, ie, when bringing up 3 noticeboards and typing some in the first, it showed up in the next noticeboard as well - weird as hell!
4: Decided to shutdown LAMS, took a backup using lams-backup.exe
5: Re-installed 2.1 and 2.1.1 and then restored via lams-restore.
6 *poff* Nothing happens, just a 404 ???

What in the world havr gone wrong ? Do I have to mention that this is a production server in use *sigh*

Ok *testing*

1: Clean install of 2.1
2: Upgrade it to 2.1.1
3: Manually add repository & dump-dirs to the new install
4: Manually inserting all tables (excluded lams_qtz_xxx)
5: Fired the LAMS-server up again and it works :=)

OK *further on*

6: Upgrading it to 2.2
7: Failed

Switched back to 2.1.1 via restore utility and its working again....
Im gonna try once more to 2.2, dump the .sql and copy some logs and paste here later...

>> Imported the working copy of sql from the production server
>> Fired the server up, just to see if it worked (Answer: YES)

>> Stopped and installed 2.2
>> The server is just acting weird, nothing shows up

Hi Leffe,

Im not sure exactly what has gone on here, but i'll try to work it out.

1) You installed 2.1
2) You updated to 2.1.1
3) You rebuilt your database using the working 2.1.1 database dump you already had.
4) You updated to 2.2

Are these the steps you took?

If so, you you attach the update-logs in the lams directory? There must be some issue with the update from 2.1.1 to 2.2.

Luke

PS: also make sure you copy the repository and secure directories to the previous locations when restoring the backup, as this contains all the content.

Leffe,

I was referring to the update logs located under the install directory. So if you installed lams under C:\lams the logs will be at C:\lams\update-logs

Leffe,

It looks like your database was not in correct 2.1.1 state when the update from 2.1.1 to 2.2 occurred. In the update logs it is saying that the new tools (introduced with the 2.2 update) already exist - which is strange.

When you say you "Imported the working copy of sql from the production server" what version of lams was the working version?

Also, how did you import it? Did you delete the existing tables before importing the working copy?

Luke, thanks for your answers!

I do know so much that there is one (or more) errors in the 2.1.1-db, but I cant see where :(

I imported the working sql from 2.1.1
Tried it all - delete, manually add table for table (restarted LAMS between the 'updates'), sectionwise importing the tables(ie lams_a*, restart LAMS, lams_b*, restart aso)

My big question is where the error in sql is ?
Because, I dont wanna end up like this once again :)
