Ernie,

Thank you for responding. I have installed LAMS on my laptop running Vista. I assume this is now acting as the LAMS Server? Additionally, I can open the LAMS Author. The problem is at the Moodle end (on a different server located on Bluehost provider) where I'm getting the LAMS failed error.

When I attempt to open LAMS Author from Moodle server I get:

http://98.154.99.120:8080/lams/LoginRequest?uid=anava&method=author&ts=August+31%2C2009+11%3A46+am&sid=sysadmin&hash=01f0c942ebe0af3699a5428237c4c5b1fc39c873&courseid=2&courseName=USH+8%2F2009&country=US&lang=en&customCSV=anava%2C2%2C2%2Csysadmin&requestSrc=moodle¬ifyCloseURL=http%3A//www.mylausd.com/znani/mod/lamstwo/view.php%3Fid%3D5

The 98.154.99.120 is the internet ip address of my LAN router. In my LAN, my laptop has an assigned address of 192.168.1.102.

Further, when I attempt to add a new lesson from Moodle, I get:

Call to LAMS failed: received no response or connection was refused. Please check that you have the correct LAMS server URL and that it is online.

How do I check from your Moodle server you can make http calls to LAMS?

...too many question...I appreciate your help.

Hi Aureliano,

Yes, once you installed LAMS you are running a LAMS server in your laptop.

Now if your laptops is behind a router, then you would need to ensure that your router forwards calls on the desire port to the 192.168.1.102 address. So this can be a bit tricky, but it's doable. Check in your router's manual for a feature call port forwarding (or just google it :-).
