Out of curiosity, did you get this resolved? I've got a similar setup. LAMS is running on a local server in my office (Linux Ubuntu Server). MOODLE is running on a BlueHost server.

Independent, both run fine. However, the integration is where I hit a bump. MOODLE is not able to verify the LAMS settings and I am not able to "Add a Lesson" from LAMS. I get an "Call to LAMS failed: received no response or connection was refused. Please check that you have the correct LAMS server URL and that it is online." error. However, I am able to launch LAMS authoring from within LAMS and LAMS creates the appropriate group as 2.3.3 has been designed to do.

I get the same behavior when I try to access this independent of the network the LAMS server is physically located on to ensure it's not a "HOSTS file" issue.

I am wondering if its an issue with my firewall blocking the call from BlueHost. However, port 8080 is opened on my firewall and routes to the LAMS server.

Hi Eric,

I'm not so sure if you have been able to fix this or not. But what I would suggest is to have a look at the Moodle and LAMS logs to see if you can find where the error might be occurring.

For instance, once you have configured your LAMS and Moodle server to "see" each other, then you should be able to add a LAMS lesson in Moodle. So when you get to add the LAMSv2 activity in Moodle, are you able to click on the "Open Author" button and get the LAMS Authoring window?

If you do get an error, have a look at the LAMS logs to see if LAMS did in fact get a call from the Moodle server.

Let me know how that goes.

Thanks,

Ernie
