G'day Barry,
Great to have you asking interesting questions... please keep them coming! Ok, so as of today this is what I would do: Say we have 30 people and what we want is to split them in groups of 6 student each to create 5 groups. Then each group would go and read a bunch of resources we have set for them to do and then discuss them in a Chat&Scribe activity where the Scribe would take notes and then create a document that he/she then would submit (as team leader) in a shared resources activity. So first activity: Grouping activity set to groups of 6 students (randomly assigned as they come along into the lesson 2nd activity: Shared resources with the stuff you want them to read. 3rd activity: Chat&Scribe (or Forum&scribe if you want) (grouped activity as defined in 1st grouping). 4th activity: Grouping activity with Grouping type chosen (so the teacher would pick the individuals for each group) 5th and final activity: Submit files (grouped activity as defined in 2nd grouping defined in the 4th activity). All students will hit the first activity and get put in their respective groups. They all read the materials Have a chat & scribe where they chat about the content and draw their conclusions. The scribe for each groups works on writing the groups output. Then when students hit the next grouping activity, the teacher will assign to groups *only* those individuals that are team leaders (one per each group). Then, these team leader will go to the next Submit activity to send their group reports. Note that students that aren't groups in activity 4th, they won't be able to go thru... so effectively only the team leader gets to submit the group output. Is this what you are after?
