Hello,

I was able to successfully build the database (ant prepare-db) and successfully install LAMS into Jboss (ant install). However, when I start the server (./run.sh), everything seems to start ok (I see server 1.6 started and the Java process shows in ps -A), but I don't get the login screen (browser error: The page you are looking for is currently unavailable).

Here is part of my serve.log file:

2005-11-30 22:20:02,558 ERROR [org.apache.commons.digester.Digester] Parse Error at line 3 column -1: Element type "tiles-definitions" is not declared.

Hi Ray,

I'm not so sure why you can't see the the login page in the browser. We probably need more info about your setup?

As far as the log goes, the "Parse Error at line 3 column -1: Element type "tiles-definitions" is not declared." that shouldn't stop LAMS from working, have a look at this thread.

Thanks,

Ernie

Hello Ernie,

I tried http://localhost:8080 and I don't get a 500 error. So, my Jboss server is not running.

Here is my configuration:

Linux Fedore Core 2
MySQL 4.1.14
j2sdk 1.4.2.10
lams-server1.0.2
Apache 4.0

I'm running Apache on my server. Can I run both Apache and Jboss on the same server?

Any advice on how to troubleshoot my Jboss server?

Best regards,

Ray

The output in your server.log usually shows once the LAMS server has finished starting, so I think it has started. You can check if JBoss has logged your request by looking at the most recent localhost_access log.

I'm not sure what piece of software you mean by Apache 4.0, if its the web server, it can run with JBoss as long as its not using the same port; if it's Apache Tomcat, then you might have trouble. But that would have showed up in the server.log if that were the case.

Your boot.log may also have something interesting inside.

Hello Jun Dir,

My last post had a typo. I'm running Apache web server (http server) 2.0 not 4.0. Additionally, I'm using the Jboss server from lams server package 1.0.2.

I restarted my lams server (from lams/jboss/bin directory)(shutdown java process first), then tried to access my lams site (http://localhost:8080), and checked localhost_access.log file. It was empty.

The first time I started lams server, it did write to the localhost_access.log file.

I'm attaching boot.log, new server.log, and first localhost_access.log files.

Best regards,

Ray

The logs you just posted are showing port conflicts (another instance of JBoss/LAMS running). It explains the localhost_access having a 404 when requesting /jmx-console, JBoss had started but was broken.

When './run.sh' shows output like that in your first post, you can probably assume LAMS has started without errors. Before starting LAMS, check that nothing is occupying ports 8080 or one of JBoss' ports (1099, 4444, and so on) by doing 'netstat -an | grep 8080'.

Assuming LAMS has started up correctly and you still get a 'page is unavailable' error - maybe your browser is set to use a proxy?
