After testing on my laptop I was keen to install LAMS on our school intranet. I used the windows installer to install onto a Windows 2000 server.

Everything seems to have installed however at the end of the LAMS part of the install there was no messages and all the windowsclosed automatically.

Going into the drive where the LAMS folder was created I tried clicking on the logon page.

This generates a strange looking URL.- from memory something like http://xyz_host_port/lams

The drive with most space is G: so I installed everything to there rather than the default location.

Does the windows version work on windows 2000 server or is just intended for individual use for development?

Hi Greg,

If LAMS was intalled successfully in your server, you'll be able to see the "Start LAMS server" icon in your desktop, as well as the login to LAMS shortcut.

You can also open a browser and type:

http://localhost:8080/lams

and that should do the trick. From remote desktops, if they want to use that LAMS server, you just need to give them the domain name for that machine (instead of localhost).

The windows installer has been tested in Windows 2000 Professional.

The LAMS server as installed by the installers is the usual plain vanilla LAMS. If you want to enhance its performance, have a look at this posting by Jun-Dir, as he has set up quite a scalable LAMS servers in various platforms.
