Hi Zuheir,

You need access to the server in order to install LAMS. You can't install it thru the web.

Please see here for the downloads and the instructions on how to install LAMS.

Thanks,

Ernie

Unfortunately, you need to have access to the operating system as you require to install the software at the OS level first.

Thanks,

Ernie

I'm not so sure how you access your server. Are you using Windows Remote Desktop? or if you use linux/unix most likely SSH?

All of them :-)

Just follow the linux installation instructions. If you choose Ubuntu, then use the Ubuntu installer.

Thanks,

I'm sorry to bother you , in fact I would like to understand the system to use it for my student .

I enter the the download page now :-

1- download the package Ubuntu installer >

2- upload the package to my server by using ftp.

3- Unzip the file .

are these the correct way to install it ?

Hi Zuheir,

No worries.

You will need to get access to the server console or be able to open a terminal on the server (usually thru SSH).

If you are using a VPS, you should be able to get SSH access to it. Once you get SSH access, you will be able to follow the instructions on the installer.

Perhaps, if you are not familiar with unix commands, try to see if you can get someone that has experience on unix to help you out as it might be a bit daunting for a newbie :-)

Thanks,

Ernie

Nope :-(

You need to have SSH access to the server, unfortunately.

Zuheir,

There are instructions on how to install LAMS on linux in the download page:

http://wiki.lamsfoundation.org/display/lams/Downloads

However, if you don't have experience in unix, it would be better that you get someone to help you out here or email me directly.

Thanks,

Ernie
