Hi David, Just thought I would add an extra question in here: Are you using a bundled version of MySQL like WAMP or XAMPP? Thank you both so much for your tips/follow-up questions. MySQL is running and the admin pwd is set. Moodle 1.9.4 has been active on this server and using MySQL for quite sometime now. I can login to the MySQL controls and see the tables set-up. Posted by David McGeary

I have no idea why this worked, but I created a log folder and set permissions to all and the install went through without a hitch. I wonder why that should matter... Thanks again for your help! Posted by David McGeary
